How to Install the DMRC Client Agent Service on Multiple Machines at the Same Time
|
The information in this article applies to:
- DameWare NT Utilities
- DameWare Mini Remote Control
|
|
There are several ways to install and configure the DameWare Mini Remote Control (DMRC) Client
Agent Service on multiple machines at the same time.
When running version 6.x of the software, the easiest and most efficient way
to
install the DMRC Client Agent Service on all remote machines is by building
an MSI package using the new DMRC Client Agent MSI Builder included within
the software. The DMRC Client Agent MSI builder (DWRCSMSI.EXE) allows a user
to build custom MSI packages (including all settings, INI or Registry) to deploy
the DMRC Client Agent Service in his or her environment. The MSI packages can then be sent to the clients (or even distributed via Group Policies within Corporate Environments,
etc.) with any of the existing distribution methods.

article:

There is also the option to use DameWare NT Utilities' (DNTU) Services View (NT4/2000/XP/2003/Vista
only) to do a system wide batch install of the DMRC Client Agent Service,
including copying the DWRCS.INI configuration file simultaneously. To ensure
the service
installs properly on all remote machines, it is necessary to perform
a system wide
removal of any existing versions of the DMRC Client Agent Service.
The following information explains how to use DNTU Services
View to
install and remove the DMRC
Client Agent Service (DWRCS.EXE) on multiple
machines at the same time.
- Install the DMRC Client Agent Service on the local machine,
and
verify the SysTray icon is visible.
- Right click on the SysTray icon, choose settings, and configure the client agent the way all remote machines need to be configured depending on the network environment. Do not
use
the option to Save the Setting to Registry, as they should be stored in the DWRCS.INI file. - Click OK to save the changes.
- Copy the newly configured DWRCS.INI file from the System32 folder to the
DameWare installation folder (Default folder \Program Files\DameWare
Development\DameWare NT Utilities).
- Open DNTU, then open the Services View of the local machine.
- Add the computers needing the DMRC Client Agent Service to the
batch pane at the bottom of the Services View.

- Highlight the computers in the batch pane and right click on them. Click Batch Processing.

- Type "DameWare Mini Remote Control" for the Service name and select "Remove Service"
and click OK.

- When DNTU has finished removing the service, right click on the selected
machines in the batch pane again and select DWMRC Service install.

- Select the Copy DWRCS.INI file option and click OK. This will push
the DWRCS.INI file out to all clients configured to specifications.
