Winsock Connect Error
System Error 10050

The 10050 error is not directly related to the DameWare Mini Remote Control application.  10050 is a Windows Sockets (TCP/IP) error which points to a network configuration or implementation issue and can be duplicated outside of DameWare software.

It indicates that the "Network is down."  This error may be reported at any time if the Windows Sockets implementation detects an underlying failure.  It could indicate a serious failure of the network system (that is, the protocol stack that the Windows Sockets DLL runs over), the network interface, or the local network itself.


According to Microsoft:
"This behavior may occur when you use an Internet security (personal firewall) program to protect your computer.  The personal firewall program blocks unwanted network access to your computer and may also prevent programs on your computer from accessing the network."
