What is Android remote desktop?
As more businesses embrace the flexibility and efficiency of cloud-based remote software to meet the needs of teams working in multiple locations, Android remote desktop solutions are becoming not just advantageous but necessary.
Technicians and end users can benefit from remote access solutions supporting the ability to provide and receive remote desktop connections using their mobile devices, including Android phones.
How does Android remote desktop access work?
The process of using remote access solutions to support remotely troubleshooting Android devices is relatively straightforward, requiring only a few steps to get started.
To remotely access an Android phone from a PC (Mac or Windows), initiating an Android remote desktop connection to provide support often requires installing an app on the Android device. Technicians then use corresponding desktop remote support software to gain remote access to Android devices. For security and authentication reasons, remote access to Android devices is typically controlled by a PIN shared with the end user by the technician.
How to remotely troubleshoot using an Android device
For technicians, using Android remote desktop app can provide the same remote support tools as remote PC desktop software—from the convenience of a mobile device.
Using a remote desktop applet, technicians can have the same ability to chat with end users, access files and programs, and troubleshoot problems remotely from their Android devices when they can’t be in the same physical location as their computer.
How does Android remote desktop work in Dameware Remote Everywhere?
Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE) requires the Android mobile user download and install the DRE Support Applet from the Google Play store.
To start an Android remote desktop app connection, technicians can log in to the Dameware Technician Console and select “Start New Session.” A session-specific PIN code is generated and can be shared with the mobile user. The mobile user needs to input this PIN code into the DRE Support Applet and select “Send Request” on the applet to start the Android remote connection. Technicians must also click on “Accept” to connect to the Android device.
At this point, the Android remote connection begins. This allows technicians to see—rather than guess—what’s happening on mobile devices to provide more effective remote support to end users.
DRE also allows technicians to use Android devices to perform remote troubleshooting. The Technical Console is built to support Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.
