How to view a remote desktop session in SolarWinds Dameware
Solarwinds offers two powerful products for remote desktop viewing:
Dameware Remote Everywhere (cloud)
Before you view a remote desktop session in SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE), open the DRE console. The remote viewer window will automatically open after you accept a support request from a customer or start a support session on an unattended computer. The System Details tab will give you an overview of how the remote device is currently configured, including information about the operating system, network setup, CPU, memory, hard disk, and more. This function is built to give you the information you need to start troubleshooting right away.
To open the remote desktop viewer in Linux and Windows computers and remotely access your client’s device, start a remote support session on their Windows device. After that, DRE opens automatically in the “Remote Desktop” tab, so you can view the remote desktop session on their device. Click on the drop-down menu under the “Remote Desktop” tab to look at the View, Commands, and Interactions menus. You can also send a Control+Alt+Delete command to the remote machine or lock the remote operating system.
All information related to System and Request Details will automatically open once a session has begun, but it will fade away after about five seconds. If you want, you can disable this action using the “Preferences” menu at the top right corner of the Remote Viewer.
To change visualization options during a support session, the “View” menu in the “Remote Desktop” tab drops down to include visualization options technicians can use to adjust the remote computer’s settings. They can change the size of the client’s desktop within the session window, change the TS session, adjust the color to account for bandwidth needs, and more.
